Chamuel

Chamuel, “He Who Seeks God” — the archangel of peaceful relationships, love, and the seeking of the divine, who fosters love and reconciliation, heals

Jun 25, 20262 min readBy DrakoK

Chamuel — “He Who Seeks God” — is the archangel of peaceful relationships, love, and the seeking of the divine in angelic tradition: the angel who fosters love, harmony, and reconciliation between people and between the soul and God, who comforts the sorrowful and strengthens those who seek divine connection. He is the angel of the loving heart. (He is closely related to, and sometimes conflated with, Camael; here he is treated in his distinct aspect as the angel of love and peace.)

He Who Seeks God

Chamuel (Kamuel, Camiel, “he who seeks God”) is the archangel of love, peaceful relationships, harmony, and the seeking of the divine. While his name resembles that of [camael] (the angel of severity and strength, with whom he is sometimes confused or identified), in his distinct and most beloved aspect Chamuel is a gentle angel of love and reconciliation — the fosterer of loving relationships, the healer of broken bonds, the comforter of the lonely and the grieving, and the strengthener of those who seek to draw near to God.

The Angel of Love and Reconciliation

Chamuel’s domain is the relationships of the heart — love between people, harmony in families and communities, the mending of quarrels and the soothing of conflict, and above all the loving relationship between the soul and the divine. He is invoked to find love, to heal broken relationships, to bring peace and reconciliation, to comfort sorrow, and to deepen one’s connection to God. He helps those who seek — whether seeking love, seeking peace, or seeking the divine — to find what they long for, fostering the bonds of love that unite.

The Comforter of Hearts

In some traditions Chamuel comforted Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane, and he is honoured as a great archangel of love and peace, the angel of the seeking and loving heart. He is associated with tolerance, gratitude, and the building of loving relationships. As the archangel who seeks God and fosters love, he holds a tender place among the great angels. In Chamuel, angelic tradition gave form to love and peaceful relationship — the archangel who seeks God and fosters love between souls, the healer of broken bonds and comforter of the sorrowful, the gentle angel of the loving and seeking heart.
